Eaton County, MI — November 8, 2023, Normandie Lyon was killed as the result of a commercial truck accident at 9:15 a.m. on Interstate 69.

Current information in the news says the collision happened on northbound I-69 in the area of Five Point Highway.

Normandie Lyon Killed in Truck Accident in Walton Township, MI

According to officials, 70-year-old Normandie Lyon and several others were in a transport van going along the interstate. Due to a series of events still not clear, the van and a semi-truck collided. This led to the van going off-road where it overturned into a ditch.

As a result of the crash, Lyon succumbed to her injuries. Others apparently were "seriously injured," though it's unclear how many were hurt and what their current conditions are. Authorities have not given any additional details at this time.

While this seems to have happened in a relatively rural stretch of the interstate, there should be quite a few drivers out and about by 9:15 a.m. Were there any witnesses who can shed light on what happened here? The details after a serious commercial vehicle wreck like this are always scattered and chaotic, but I've read several news stories that don't at all clear up what may have caused the crash. I'm hoping this has more to do with authorities being careful until they know more rather than a sign that there may be important details slipping through the cracks.
