Bradley John Lebel Killed in Semi-Truck Accident in Lansing, MI

Lansing, MI — November 2, 2023, Bradley Lebel reportedly died due to injuries from a truck accident on October 24 along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Current details in public reports say that the crash occurred at around 5:00 p.m. on October 24 at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Olds Avenue.

It appears that 37-year-old Bradley John Lebel was in a vehicle going southbound on MLK. At Olds, his vehicle and a westbound semi-truck on Olds somehow collided. Lebel was transported to a hospital, but it appears he later succumbed to his injuries. Right now, there are no additional details about the crash.

Just to be clear up front, I don't have any inside information about what happened here, and I'm not here to assign blame or draw conclusions. I'm looking at the same public news reports everyone else has access to. In those reports, though, is the supposed directions of the two vehicles and the intersection where the collision occurred. From that information alone, my concern is that it looks like Mr. Lebel had the right-of-way while the semi-truck might not have. Is that true, and if so, why isn't anyone talking about this crash?

The most up-to-date images of southbound MLK and Olds Avenue in Lansing that I can find are from September 2022. In those images, it seems east and westbound traffic has a stop sign while southbound traffic does not. Is that still the case, or have they added a traffic signal or additional signage since these images were published? Or, has the road otherwise changed in a significant way? Because if this intersection is still as I'm seeing it, and the victim was going southbound through that intersection while the truck was going westbound, it seems highly unlikely the two vehicles would cross paths if the truck was obeying traffic signage.

Again, my information could be out of date, or there could be circumstances not reported in the news that would show this all was just an unavoidable tragedy. But the question I've been left with after just a short news story and a couple of minutes Googling is one that warrants an answer. It makes me wonder if the victim's loved ones have been left with similar unanswered questions.
