Alfredo Arias Sanchez Injured in Car Accident in Collin County, TX

Collin County, TX — October 23, 2023, Alfredo Arias Sanchez was injured following a single-vehicle car accident at around 6:36 p.m. along County Road 949.

Authorities said in their preliminary statements that the accident happened in the area of the County Road 949 and County Road 536.

According to officials, 60-year-old Alfredo Arias Sanchez was in a Nissan Xterra traveling eastbound along C.R. 949. At a curve in the road, it appears the vehicle went off the side of the road where it then crashed into a utility pole and a tree.

As a result of the collision, Sanchez was said to have incapacitating injuries. Authorities did not mention anyone else being involved in the crash. Something they did mention was that they believe the driver had been drinking. To be clear, that's according to unconfirmed, preliminary investigations. It's entirely possible there is further evidence that would show alcohol had nothing to do with this crash. In fact, the details I'm seeing don't exactly inspire confidence that authorities are telling the whole story here.

I've handled hundreds of alcohol-related accidents, and the reports on those incidents tend to be a lot more thorough than what I see here. For example, when I've handled personal injury cases against bars for over-serving someone who then got themselves or someone else hurt, authorities tend to outright say the driver was intoxicated, they list BAC results, and they often recommend as serious a charge as they can.

Right now, I'm not seeing in these initial statements what I would expect to see from such serious allegations. I can't say right now if the allegations here are true or not since there isn't enough information to say one way or the other. It's possible alcohol was a factor here, and authorities are just being unusually reserved in their recounting of events. It's also possible that something else entirely led to this crash. One way or the other, I'd be surprised if what little information is available right now is all there is to the story.
