Worker Killed in Truck Accident off East 144th Ave. in Brighton, CO

Brighton, CO — November 3, 2023, a worker was killed as the result of a construction site truck accident at around 9:30 a.m. off of East 144th Avenue.

Authorities at this time report that the incident took place at a construction site near East 144th and Primrose Circle, several miles outside of Denver.

Worker Killed in Truck Accident off East 144th Ave. in Brighton, CO

According to current statements, a worker was on foot at the construction site when a dump truck apparently "slowly" reversed over the victim. As a result, the victim died from their injuries. There were no other reported injuries. It appears authorities arrested the truck driver for careless driving causing death, though they say they've ruled out impairment. It's unclear if the driver was working for the same employer as the victim.

There are many accidents like this all across the country involving people hurt or killed by trucks while on a job site. I don't think I can recall a single time where such a crash ended with police filing charges against the truck driver. Considering they apparently ruled out impaired driving, what in the world led them to making an arrest here?
