1 Injured in Dump Truck Accident on S.H. 72 in Dewitt County, TX

Dewitt County, TX — October 16, 2023, one person was injured in a truck accident at about 5:45 in the evening on State Highway 72.

According to reports, the accident occurred on State Highway 72 just south of Sweet Potato Road. A dump truck and a Ford F-250 were travelling northbound in a construction zone when the dump truck slowed to make a U-turn.

For unknown reasons, the Ford crossed over the double yellow lines in order to attempt to pass the dump truck. This caused the two vehicles to collide. The 59-year-old male passenger in the Ford sustained reportedly serious injuries as a result of the incident and was transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services for treatment. No other injuries were reported in connection with this accident.

The accident is still under investigation by the authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time of the accident were reportedly clear and dry. No additional details are currently available.
