1 Injured in Truck Accident on I-80 near in Joliet, IL

Joliet, IL — November 2, 2023, one person was injured in a truck accident around 2:45 in the afternoon along Interstate 80.

Reports indicate that the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Center Street.

Authorities say that there were three 18-wheelers involved in the accident. First responders got to the scene to find one of the drivers of the 18-wheelers trapped in the vehicle. It took just over forty minutes to extract the driver from the big rig. Once he was freed from the wreckage he was airlifted to a hospital for immediate treatment. No one else involved in the accident needed to be hospitalized.

The cause of the accident is still unknown. Weather and road conditions in the area of the crash were not specifically reported on, but photographs of the scene published in the news show slightly cloudy skies with apparently dry roads. The accident is still under investigation; no further details are currently available.
