Ryan Lee Childers, Melissa Louise Childers Killed in Truck Accident in Burke County, NC

Burke County, NC — November 2, 2023, Ryan Lee Childers and Melissa Louise Childers were killed in a truck accident at about 11:45 a.m. along I-40.

According to reports, the couple were traveling westbound in a Honda Odyssey on Interstate 40 close to Old N.C. Highway 10 when the accident occurred.

Traffic was reportedly slowing due to construction in the area. For unknown reasons, the Honda rear-ended an 18-wheeler which had been traveling ahead of them in the right-hand lane of the interstate. The accident was fatal for both Ryan Childers—age 44—and Melissa Childers—also age 44. No other injuries were reported in connection with this incident.

Authorities are still investigating the accident. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time have not been reported on. There are no additional details available at this time.
