Ronterreal Mumphrey Killed, Marga Johnson Injured in Car Accident near Alto, TX

Cherokee County, TX — October 28, 2023, Ronterreal Mumphrey was killed and Marga Johnson was injured in a car accident at 9 p.m. along State Highway 21.

According to reports, 36-year-old Ronerreal Mumphrey, of Alto, Texas, was riding an ATV which had just made a left turn onto the westbound lane of State Highway 21 from C.R. 2807 when the accident occurred.

Marga Johnson was traveling along the same road in the same direction as the ATV in a Chevy Tahoe. For unknown reasons, the Tahoe struck the ATV from behind, ejecting Mumphrey from the ATV. Mumphrey incurred life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local medical facility by EMS for treatment. He was later declared deceased by medical personnel. Johnson was also reportedly injured in the accident; she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities state that weather and road conditions in the area at the time of the incident were clear and dry. The accident is still under active investigation. There are no additional details available at this point in time.
