Two DPS Troopers Injured in Vehicle Pursuit in Katy, TX

Katy, TX — October 31, 2023, two Texas DPS troopers were injured in a vehicle pursuit crash on Merchants Way near Mason Road in Katy, TX.

Authorities indicate that on October 31, multiple collisions occurred during a police chase in Katy. According to reports, the pursuit began at approximately 9:30 at night.

Investigators say a driver allegedly backed up and ran over a DPS trooper's foot during a stop. Troopers then reportedly pursued the vehicle and attempted multiple maneuvers to stop it. Sources say a total of four police vehicles were damaged in the chase. Sources say another trooper entered the pursuit and was struck by an 18-wheeler in the intersection. The pursuit reportedly came to an end at Merchants Way in the area of Mason Road.

Officials confirmed that the trooper struck by the 18-wheeler was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further information has been released at this time.

Authorities are still investigating.
