Miguel Angel Delacruz, Emigdio Montano, One Other Killed, One Injured in Vehicle Accident near Lovington, NM

Lovington, NM — October 31, 2023, Miguel Angel Delacruz, Emigdio Montano, and one other were killed, and one was injured in a vehicle crash on Highway 82 near Lovington, NM.

Authorities indicate that on October 31, a fatal accident occurred when two vehicles collided near Lovington. According to police, a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes along Highway 82. The vehicle reportedly entered the path of an oncoming Chevrolet pickup, and the two collided head-on.

Officials confirmed the driver of the vehicle, Miguel Angel Delacruz, 24, was killed in the crash. A passenger in the vehicle, whose name has not been released, also suffered fatal injuries. The pickup driver, 74-year-old Emigdio Montano, also suffered fatal injuries. A pickup passenger reportedly sustained injuries and was taken to an area hospital. No further information was given.

The investigation is ongoing.
