James Clyde Martin Jr. Killed in Car Accident in Austin, TX

Austin, TX — January 3, 2023, James Clyde Martin Jr. was killed following a single-vehicle accident at around 4:24 p.m. along West Cesar Chavez Street.

Authorities reported that the accident happened near the intersection of West Cesar Chavez Street and South B.R. Reynolds Drive/South Lamar Boulevard.

Officials said in their statements that 79-year-old James Martin Jr. was in a Buick Encore going westbound along Cesar Chavez. Just off B. R. Reynolds, the vehicle somehow ran off the side of the road, went across the sidewalk, and crashed into a group of trees.

The crash resulted in Martin suffering fatal injuries. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident. Currently, the cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.
