Officer Injured in Alleged Drunk Driver Accident on I-10 in Beaumont, TX

Beaumont, TX — October 29, 2023, an officer was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident that happened early Sunday along Interstate 10.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash occurred along the eastbound service road of I-10 near the U.S. Highway 96 interchange.

According to current statements, a vehicle ran a red light at an intersection along the service road. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a Beaumont Police Department cruiser, forcing it off-road and into a pole. The crash resulted in the officer sustaining unspecified injuries, and they were taken to a hospital.

The other driver involved is said to be facing a charge for intoxication assault causing severe bodily injury to a peace officer. There are no additional details about the crash or other possible charges available at this time.
