Tyler Coy Smelcer, Ashley Marie Warren Killed, Two Injured in Police Chase Accident in Knoxville, TN

Knoxville, TN — October 10, 2023, Tyler Coy Smelcer and Ashley Marie Warren were killed, and two were injured in a crash near Chapman Highway and Hendron Chapel Road in Knoxville, TN.

Authorities indicate that on October 10, a fatal accident occurred when a Saturn allegedly evading police crashed into a vehicle in Knoxville. According to reports, the crash happened after 5:00 p.m.

Investigators say Blount County Officers were pursuing the Saturn as it was heading north in the southbound lanes along Chapman Highway. Police state that the Saturn swerved to miss another car and crashed into a vehicle near the Chapman Highway and Hendron Chapel Road intersection.

Officials confirmed the Saturn driver, Tyler Coy Smelcer, 30, and passenger Ashley Marie Warren, 31, suffered fatal injuries. Two occupants in the vehicle that was struck were reportedly hurt in the crash, but the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. No further information is available.

The investigation is ongoing.
