Leonardo Hector Montenegro Killed, 1 Injured in Car Accident in Collin County, TX

Collin County, TX — February 28, 2023, Leonardo Montenegro was killed and another was injured following a car accident at around 3:21 p.m. on F.M. 982.

Authorities said in their preliminary statements that the crash took place in the area of Farm-to-Market 982 mile marker 242.

According to officials, 52-year-old Leonardo Montenegro was in a Nissan van traveling northbound along F.M. 982. A 27-year-old was in an Oldsmobile going southbound. Authorities believe that the Oldsmobile was traveling at unsafe speeds when it went left of center and crashed head-on with the van. This led to the van overturning, authorities said.

Due to the crash, Montenegro sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Oldsmobile had injuries described as incapacitating. Right now, no additional factors have been reported.
