Two Injured in Three-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 84 in Payette County, NC

Payette County, NC — October 22, 2023, two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 in Payette County, NC.

Authorities indicate that on October 22, an accident occurred when three vehicles collided in Payette County. According to reports, the crash happened at approximately 5:30 in the morning. Investigators say a stopped vehicle attempted to merge onto Interstate 84 from the shoulder when an oncoming semi-truck struck it. Sources say another semi-truck, trying to avoid the crash, overturned down a roadside embankment. The cause of the crash has not been released at this time.

Officials confirmed that two occupants of the first semi-truck suffered injuries and were taken to an area hospital. The extent of the injuries is unknown. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
