1 Killed in Truck Accident on I-80 in Dallas County, IA

Dallas County, IA — October 16, 2023, one person was killed in a semi-truck accident in Dallas County at around 1:45 in the morning along I-80.

According to reports, the incident occurred in a construction zone on the eastbound lanes of I-80 near De Soto.

For reasons yet unknown, the semi left its lane, resulting in a collision with a barrier. When the semi-truck struck the barrier, the vehicle overturned. The collision with the barrier and resultant rollover caused a break in the gas tank, which triggered a fire that was well underway by the time rescue crews were able to make it to the scene.

The accident did result in the death of the driver of the semi-truck whose identity, if known, is yet to be released to the public. The incident is still under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. No further details are available at this time.
