Deputy Jacob Eric Salrin Killed in 18-wheeler Accident in Columbia, SC

Columbia, SC — September 29, 2023, Deputy Jacob Salrin was fatally injured due to an 18-wheeler accident at around 8:23 p.m. on Bluff Road.

Authorities said in their statements that the accident happened at the intersection of Bluff Road and Windy Drive in the southeast part of the city.

According to officials, Richland County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jacob Salrin was in a car going westbound at the time. In a series of events not entirely clear, that vehicle and a Volvo tractor trailer turning onto Windy Drive collided.

Due to this collision, Deputy Salrin sustained fatal injuries. there were no other reported injuries. While preliminary reports suggest the truck may have made an unprotected left turn, the exact circumstances cannot be confirmed without further investigations.
