Driver, Five Students Injured in Car-School Bus Accident in Harlingen, TX

Harlingen, TX — October 3, 2023, six people were injured in a car-school bus crash at 1300 North Ed Carey Drive in Harlingen, TX.

Authorities indicate that on October 3, an accident occurred when three vehicles collided in Harlingen for unknown reasons. According to reports, the crash happened around 4:06 in the afternoon.

Investigators say a southbound Texas DPS patrol vehicle and a Ford Mustang collided as the Mustang attempted a lane change on Ed Carey Drive. Sources say the impact forced the patrol vehicle from the left lane to the far right lane, causing it to crash into a school bus. The cause of the accident has not been released at this time.

Officials confirmed that the bus driver and five students on board the school bus suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals.

No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
