Howard Kelly Gray, Lufkin Man Injured in Car Accident in Angelina County, TX

Angelina County, TX — September 4, 2023, Howard Kelly Gray and a Lufkin man were injured following a car accident at around 7:50 p.m. on U.S. Highway 69.

Preliminary information about the crash released by authorities indicates that the incident happened in the area of U.S. 69 and F.M. 326.

According to officials, 54-year-old Howard Gray was in a Ford F-150 going northbound along the highway. In oncoming lanes, a 23-year-old Lufkin man was in a southbound Ford Mustang. Authorities say that the Mustang attempted a left turn onto F.M. 326. As a result, the vehicles collided.

Both Gray and the Mustang driver were said to have sustained incapacitating injuries in the collision. Authorities at this time say they believe the Mustang driver had been drinking. Charges were recommended, but official details can't be confirmed at this time.
