Melvin Tejada Pleitez, Others Killed in Car Accidents on Loop 12 in Irving, TX

Irving, TX — September 17, 2023, Melvin Tejada Pleitez and at least one other were killed in a couple of car accidents that began at 2:30 a.m. on Loop 12.

According to current public information, the crashes occurred in the 1000 block of Loop 12 near Irving Boulevard.

Statements say there was an initial crash that happened along southbound lanes of Walton Walker at 2:30 a.m. The cause of the crash was not specified, and it apparently involved "several vehicles." At least one person was killed as a result.

As authorities were working that scene, at around 4:30 a.m., details say a vehicle crashed into a firetruck blocking the first crash scene. The driver of that vehicle was killed as a result.

Right now, one victim has been identified by officials as 34-year-old Melvin Tejada Pleitez. It is not clear at this time which incident Tejada Pleitez was involved in. Both crashes remain under investigation.
