Charles Rogers Killed, Merlyn Ramsey Injured in Three-Vehicle Accident in Emporia, KS

Emporia, KS — September 18, 2023, Charles Rogers was killed, and Merlyn Ramsey was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 400 in Greenwood County, Emporia, KS.

Authorities say that on September 18, a fatal accident occurred when three vehicles collided in Greenwood County for unknown reasons. According to reports, the crash happened shortly before 11:30 at night.

Investigators say a vehicle traveling east along Highway 400 suddenly crossed over the center lane line into opposing traffic. The vehicle reportedly struck the side of an oncoming semi-truck before colliding head-on with a utility truck. Authorities have not released the cause of the collision.

Officials confirmed the vehicle driver, Charles Rogers, 61, suffered fatal injuries. The utility truck driver, Merlyn Ramsey, 48, reportedly sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital for medical attention. No other injuries were reported.
