Joel Chinchilla Jr., Teen Injured in Alleged Intoxicated Driver Accident in McClendon-Chisolm, TX

Rockwall County, TX — September 1, 2023, Joel Chinchilla Jr. and a teenager were injured in an alleged intoxicated driver accident before midnight on F.M. 550.

According to initial statements from authorities, the crash took place in the area of the Farm-to-Market 550 and Pullen Road intersection.

Investigators said that 42-year-old Joel Chinchilla Jr. and a 14-year-old were in a Toyota Highlander traveling eastbound along F.M. 550. From oncoming lanes, authorities say that a Nissan Frontier crossed left of center, crashing into Chinchilla's vehicle and an Acura.

Due to the collision, Chinchilla and the 14-year-old sustained injuries described as incapacitating. The Nissan driver reportedly had non-incapacitating injuries. Authorities said in their statements that the driver of the Nissan was under the influence of alcohol, and charges of intoxication assault were recommended. Further details are unconfirmed at this time.
