Officer and Three Others Injured in Car Accident on Southfield Freeway in Detroit, MI

Detroit, MI — September 17, 2023, an officer and three others were injured in a car accident on Southfield Freeway near Fenkell in Detroit, MI.

Authorities indicate that on September 17, an accident occurred when a police officer was struck by a vehicle in Detroit for unknown reasons. According to reports, the crash happened around 12:50 a.m.

Investigators say the officer was performing a traffic stop along Southfield Freeway when he was struck by a passing vehicle. Authorities say an SUV rear-ended the patrol vehicle and struck the officer and two others.

Officials confirmed the officer suffered injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The two others who were hurt were also taken to the hospital. The injuries were reportedly non-life-threatening. Sources say the SUV driver was taken to the hospital with non-severe injuries. No additional information was released.

The investigation is ongoing.
