Luis Gutierrez Killed in Truck Accident on U.S. Hwy. 285 in Reeves County, TX

Reeves County, TX — June 30, 2023, Luis Gutierrez was killed in a collision with a semi-truck around 12:03 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 285 in Reeves County.

According to authorities, the victim's Ford F-150 was heading south on U.S. Hwy. 285 and reportedly driving through the intersection with R.M. 652 when the pickup truck allegedly collided with a northeast-bound Kenworth semi-truck. The driver-side of the F-150's nose purportedly struck the driver-side of the Kenworth tractor, just behind the driver-side door.

Mr. Gutierrez was reportedly pronounced deceased at the accident scene, and the truck driver was reportedly uninjured.

The intersection is a 4-way stop, the speed limit for Hwy. 285 is 65 mph, and the speed limit for R.M. 652 is 70 mph.

Investigators have not released what factors led up to the accident.
