Dexter Chilton Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on Route 83 in Amarillo, TX

Amarillo, TX — September 14, 2023, Dexter Chilton was killed in a semi-truck collision on U.S. Route 83, south of Shamrock, in Amarillo, TX.

Authorities indicate that on September 14, a fatal crash occurred when a semi-truck and a GMC collided in Amarillo for unknown reasons. According to reports, the crash happened at 6:45 in the morning.

Investigators say the GMC was traveling through a construction area along Route 83 and attempted to pass a vehicle. Police say that as the GMC attempted to pass, it collided head-on with the semi-truck.

Officials confirmed the GMC driver, 86-year-old Dexter Chilton, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the events that led to the crash.
