James Martin Killed, Four Injured in Motorcycle-Car Accident in Effingham County, GA

Effingham County, GA — June 1, 2023, James Martin was killed in a motorcycle-car collision on Highway 80 near Meldrim Road in Effingham County, GA.

Authorities indicate that on June 1, a fatal crash occurred when a motorcycle and a car collided in Effingham County for unknown reasons. Police say a motorcyclist was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to pass a westbound commercial truck on Highway 80.

Officials confirmed the motorcyclist, 58-year-old James Martin, suffered fatal injuries. Investigators say Martin's wife also sustained injuries when her motorcycle crashed due to the initial collision. The extent of her injuries is unknown. Three people in the car reportedly had injuries, two of which were minor. The vehicle driver was taken to a hospital, but there was no word on his condition.

No additional information has been released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
