Fernando Gonzalez-Gonzalez Killed, Carlos Tovar Injured in Car Accident in Lubbock, TX

Lubbock, TX — September 14, 2023, Fernando Gonzalez-Gonzalez was killed and Carlos Tovar was injured in a car accident early Thursday on Interstate 27.

According to information released by the Lubbock Police, the incident took place at approximately 3:00 a.m. in the area of the I-27 and North Loop 289.

Right now, details about the crash say that 36-year-old Fernando Gonzalez-Gonzalez and 46-year-old Carlos Tovar were in an SUV going along the entrance ram to get onto northbound I-27. While doing so, for reasons not clear at this time, the SUV went across northbound lanes and crashed into the concrete median barrier.

As a result of the accident, Gonzalez-Gonzalez sustained fatal injuries. Tovar was said to have serious injuries and was taken to UMC, reports say. At this time, no further information about the accident can be confirmed.
