Clara Ellen Dawson Killed in Car Accident in Hunt County, TX

Hunt County, TX — August 20, 2023, Clara Ellen Dawson was fatally injured following a head-on car accident just before noon along Highway 224.

Investigations from authorities said that the incident happened at approximately 11:45 a.m. along Highway 224 in the area of mile marker 632.

According to officials, 78-year-old Clara Ellen Dawson was in a Nissan Versa said to be going southwest along the highway. Authorities say that an oncoming Dodge Ram truck went into oncoming lanes, crossing paths and colliding with Dawson's vehicle. The truck overturned, and Dawson's vehicle ended up off-road.

As a result of the accident, Dawson succumbed to fatal injuries. The driver of the Dodge was said to have non-incapacitating injuries. Currently, additional details about the crash remain unconfirmed. Authorities mentioned the possibility of alcohol leading to the crash, but investigations are ongoing.
