Marganne Allen Killed in Bicycle-Truck Accident on Leslie St. in Salem, OR

Salem, OR — March 28, 2023, Marganne Allen was killed in a collision with a pickup truck around 3:45 p.m. at High Street and Leslie St. in Salem.

According to authorities, Mrs. Allen was biking south along High Street and approaching Leslie St. when she was reportedly struck by an eastbound pickup truck driven by Samuel Landis. Mr. Landis is reportedly a special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration and was on duty at the time of the crash.

Marganne Allen was reportedly taken to a Salem Health hospital, but her injuries ultimately proved to be fatal. The pickup truck driver was purportedly uninjured.

Investigators say Mr. Landis was speeding on the neighborhood streets and failed to stop at the stop sign on Leslie St. but that he remained at the crash scene and fully cooperated with authorities.

A grand jury reportedly indicted Mr. Landis on criminally negligent homicide charges on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

Some news sources report that the deceased's loved ones have expressed several concerns regarding the timeline of the investigation for this crash, however, authorities have not released any other details at this time.
