Mateo Alonso Cruz Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident on Military Road in Hidalgo County, TX

Hidalgo County, TX — September 10, 2023, Mateo Alonso Cruz was killed in a single-vehicle accident around 11:02 p.m. on Military Road in Hidalgo County.

Investigators report Mr. Cruz's GMC Envoy was traveling west on Military Road, just west of Valley View Road, when his vehicle somehow lost control, struck a canal barrier, overturned, and then landed on its roof in a field.

The victim was reportedly pronounced deceased at the accident scene.

Authorities have not released the cause of the crash at this time.
