Juan Garcia Bautista, Jose Gonzales Killed, 3 Injured in Van Accident in Sugar Land, TX

UPDATE (September 28, 2023): Additional statements from police officials identified the other man killed in the accident as Jose Gonzales. Further information is still under investigation.

UPDATE (September 26, 2023): Further details released by authorities identified one victim and clarified that a second person was killed due to the accident. According to officials, Juan Garcia Bautista was one of the passengers in the van that was killed due to the accident. Another man, an unidentified 24-year-old, also reportedly died due to the crash. Three others in the van reportedly had non-incapacitating injuries. The cause of the crash has yet to be confirmed.

Sugar Land, TX — September 9, 2023, one person was killed and four people were injured following a van accident at around 7:45 p.m. on Highway 6.

According to preliminary information released by authorities, the incident took place on a stretch of Highway 6 between Imperial Boulevard and U.S. 90 Alt.

Investigators said in their statements that a van was traveling along Highway 6 when it somehow lost control. The van ended up off-road where it overturned into a ditch. This incident resulted in at least one person succumbing to fatal injuries. Four others were taken to hospitals, one via helicopter.

Right now, authorities allege that intoxicated driving may have contributed to the accident. These allegations can't be confirmed pending further investigations from officials. No further information is available at this time.
