One Killed, One Injured in School Bus Accident on Highway 254 near Towanda, KS

Towanda, KS — September 8, 2023, a person was killed, and one was injured in a car/bus accident on Highway 254 near Adams Road, west of Towanda, KS.

Authorities indicate that on September 8, a fatal crash occurred when a Malibu and a school bus collided near Towanda for unknown reasons. According to reports, the crash happened after 4:00 in the afternoon on Highway 254 near Adams Road.

Investigators say the Malibu was traveling west along Highway 254, and the school bus was heading north along Adams Road. Police say the bus attempted to cross the highway, and the two vehicles collided.

Officials confirmed the Malibu driver suffered severe injuries and was taken to an area hospital. A passenger in the Malibu, whose name has not been released, suffered fatal injuries. Several students were reportedly on board the school bus during the collision, none of whom were injured.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the events that led to the crash.
