One Killed in Truck Accident on U.S. Hwy. 277 in Tom Green County, TX

Tom Green County, TX — June 18, 2023, one person was killed in a collision with a semi-truck around 10:56 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 277 in Tom Green County.

According to officials, the victim's Chevy Trax was heading south on U.S. Hwy. 277 when a Peterbilt tractor-trailer allegedly failed to yield the right of way, and reversed onto the highway directly into the path of the Trax.

The front driver-side corner of the Chevy's hood reportedly struck the trailer's left-rear axle. The collision purportedly forced the victim's car off the highway in a spin. Authorities report the Trax came to rest facing east, in a road side ditch, before catching fire.

The 66-year-old victim suffered fatal injuries, while the truck driver was reportedly unharmed.
