One Killed, One Injured in Truck Accident on Loop 49 in Smith County, TX

Smith County, TX — September 5, 2023, one person was killed, and another was injured in a truck accident around 10 a.m. on Loop 49 in Smith County.

According to officials, a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle collided on the Toll 49 (a.k.a. Loop 49) near the intersection with Highway 31. The driver of the passenger vehicle was fatally injured, while the truck driver was reportedly taken to a hospital with injuries.

Investigators have not released the type of vehicle the passenger vehicle is, what direction the vehicles were headed, or what factors caused this accident.
