Tommy Luera Killed in Work Accident in Irving, TX

Irving, TX — March 20, 2023, Tommy Luera sustained fatal injuries as the result of a work site accident at around 10:15 p.m. on Pioneer Drive.

Preliminary information released by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration indicates that the incident happened at 2425 East Pioneer Drive, which is the listed address of the employer named in the OSHA summary, Shermco Industries, Co.

Current statements indicate that 68-year-old Tommy Luera was working to polish a rotor shaft on a lathe. During this process, Luera somehow became caught in the lathe. As a result, Luera sustained injuries which ultimately proved to be fatal. There were no other reported injuries.

In the OSHA summary, there is one listed alleged "serious" citation along with a recommended penalty of $15,625. Currently, additional details about OSHA proceedings regarding the death of Tommy Luera are not publicly available. Investigations are ongoing.
