49 Children, Suzanne Ent, Edward Steinmann Injured in Tow Truck Accident on Route 115 in Luzerne County, PA

Luzerne County, PA — September 6, 2023, forty-nine children, Suzanne Ent, and Edward Steinmann were injured in a school bus vs. tow truck accident around 8:10 a.m. on Route 115 in Luzerne County.

According to investigators, Suzanne Ent was driving a school bus, with 54 Bear Creek Community Charter School students, south on Route 115 when the bus was struck head-on by a northbound tow truck driven by Edward Steinmann. Authorities report that their initial investigations suggest the tow truck somehow crossed into the southbound lanes, causing the crash.

State police officers released that they were assisted at the crash site by several first responder teams and officials from the students' charter school. Authorities report that 49 of the 54 students were transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital for medical attention. Some students were purportedly taken by ambulance while other students were transported by a second school bus.

By Wednesday afternoon, several of the students had been released to their parents. Suzanne Ent and Edward Steinmann, and four of the injured children reportedly suffered moderate injuries and remained at hospitals.

Authorities have not released any other details at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
