Driver Injured in 18-wheeler Rollover Accident off I-40 in Wheeler County, TX

Wheeler County, TX — July 16, 2023, one person sustained injuries as the result of an 18-wheeler rollover accident at 5:35 a.m. along Interstate 40.

Authorities said in their statements that the incident happened along eastbound lanes of the interstate near County Road 21.

Investigators said that a 37-year-old man was in a Freightliner tractor-trailer said to be going eastbound along main lanes of I-40. It appears that one of the 18-wheeler's tires blew out, causing the truck to run off the right side of the road. It went through the grass, then across the frontage road before crashing into a tree.

The truck driver appeared to have incapacitating injuries as a result of the accident. Investigators did not say that anyone else was involved in the crash. Currently, the cause of the blowout remains unspecified. Further information is unclear.
