Rolando Martinez Injured in Car Accident in Zapata, TX

Zapata, TX — July 21, 2023, Rolando Martinez was injured as the result of a car accident at around 10:55 p.m. along U.S. Highway 83.

Investigations from authorities said that the incident happened along southbound lanes of the highway at 7th Avenue.

Initial details indicate that 21-year-old Rolando Martinez was on a Suzuki motorcycle said to be going southbound on the highway. Martinez reportedly came to a stop for a red light at 7th Avenue. While waiting, it appears a Nissan Versa slammed into Martinez's motorcycle.

As a result of the collision, Martinez was said to have incapacitating injuries. There were no other reported injuries. Authorities say they believe the Nissan driver may have been under the influence of alcohol, but it appears that driver refused a breathalyzer, and intoxication cannot be confirmed at this time.
