Three Injured in 18-wheeler Accident on Turnpike in South Whitehall Township, PA

Lehigh County, PA — September 5, 2023, three people were injured as the result of an 18-wheeler accident that happened at 11:30 a.m. on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Authorities said in their initial statements to the public that the crash occurred along the turnpike (I-476) near the Route 22/Lehigh Valley Thruway interchange.

Right now, exact circumstances surrounding the crash are unavailable. Authorities have said only that a semi-truck carrying pipes crashed with a passenger car. This resulted in the car overturning onto its roof.

As a result of the crash, at least three people were transported to a hospital. The severity of their injuries was not reported. It's unclear if the authorities are planning any charges or citations. Investigations are ongoing at this time.
