Gabino Lugo Injured in Alleged DWI Accident in Hidalgo County, TX

Hidalgo County, TX — May 30, 2023, Gabino Lugo sustained injuries due to an alleged DWI driver accident at around 9:21 p.m. along F.M. 492.

Preliminary information from authorities says that the collision took place at the intersection of F.M. 492/Goodwin Road and Kountry Loop.

Investigators said in initial statements that 41-year-old Gabino Lugo, 30-year-old Miguel Angel Escobedo, and 37-year-old Porfirio Lincoln were in a Mercury Marquis going northbound along F.M. 492. At Kountry Loop, it appears that a westbound Ford allegedly failed to yield, crashing into the Mercury.

As a result of the crash, Lugo was said to have incapacitating injuries. It's unconfirmed whether or not Escobedo and Lincoln were hurt. The Ford driver did not have any reported injuries.

Public information about the crash lists the Ford driver as having a .23 BAC following the wreck. There were recommendations by authorities for charges including DWI and failure to yield. Right now, additional details can't be confirmed.
