Tow Truck Driver Killed, One Injured in Car Accident on Interstate 95 in Prince George’s County, MD

Prince George's County, MD — August 31, 2023, a tow truck driver was killed, and one was injured in a car accident on Interstate 95 North at Powder Mill Road in Prince George's County, MD.

Authorities say that on August 31, a fatal crash involving four vehicles occurred on Interstate 95 in Prince George's County. According to reports, the crash happened at approximately 12:10 in the afternoon.

Investigators say a Toyota was stalled on the shoulder of Interstate 95 when a tow truck stopped to aid the disabled car. Police say the Toyota and a Honda were struck by a passing vehicle and then by a tractor-trailer, killing one person and injuring another.

Officials confirmed the tow truck driver, whose name has not been released, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The Honda driver, a 76-year-old woman, sustained injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The extent of the woman's injuries is unknown at this time. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
