Yasmin Galindo Macedo Killed, 4 Injured in Alleged Drunk Driving Accident on North Lamar Blvd. in Austin, TX
Austin, TX — August 27, 2023, Yasmin Galindo Macedo was killed, and 4 others were injured in an alleged drunk driving accident around 3:45 a.m. on N. Lamar Boulevard.
According to officials, there were two crashes.
Investigators report the first collision was a head-on crash between a Chevrolet Camaro and a Nissan Versa in the northbound lanes of N. Lamar Blvd. Several witnesses were purportedly attempting to assist the victims of this initial crash out of the road. However, before Ms. Galindo Macedo, and the witness who was assisting her, could get out of the road the two of them were struck by a southbound GMC truck.
According to officials, Ms. Galindo Macedo had already sustained serious injuries prior to being stuck by the GMC, but after she was caught under the truck's front right tire, she sustained fatal injuries.
The unidentified witness who was helping Ms. Galindo Macedo was purportedly thrown from the road, but it is unclear the severity of the injuries this witness sustained.
Authorities report that of the four people injured in these two crashes, three who sustained serious injuries and one with minor injuries.
The GMC truck driver was reportedly later caught by the Texas Department of Public Safety and allegedly admitted to drinking and driving.
