Benigno Montiel Killed in 18-wheeler Accident in Hidalgo County, TX

Hidalgo County, TX — June 23, 2023, Benigno Montiel was fatally injured due to a commercial truck accident that happened at 9: 56 p.m. on Texas Avenue.

According to preliminary details made public by the authorities, the crash happened at the intersection of Texas Avenue (F.M. 491) and Military Highway (U.S. 281).

Current information about the crash states that 61-year-old Benigno Montiel was in a Ford Mustang that appeared to be going southbound on Texas Ave. At the U.S. 281 intersection, the Mustang and a commercial truck that was going eastbound collided. The cause of that collision cannot be confirmed at this time.

Montiel sustained fatal injuries as a result of the tractor-trailer collision. It does not appear that the truck driver had any injuries. No others were reportedly involved. At this time, no further information can be released pending investigations.
