Shelby County, TX — August 29, 2023, Matthew Pierson was killed in a semi-truck collision at Highway 103 and Highway 147 in Shelby County, TX.

Authorities indicate that on August 29, a fatal accident occurred when two vehicles collided in Shelby County for unknown reasons. According to reports, the crash happened around 7:30 in the morning.

Investigators say a westbound semi-truck traveling along Interstate 103 collided with a patrol car heading north on Highway 147. Authorities say the patrol car failed to yield to the semi-truck, and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Officials confirmed the patrol car driver, Shelby County Deputy Matthew Pierson, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
