Investigators said that there was a 35-year-old woman driving a Toyota Yaris along the interstate with a 42-year-old man and an 11-year-old girl riding as passengers. The Toyota was going eastbound when it appears that a pickup turned left off the shoulder in an apparent attempt to make a u-turn. As a result, the two vehicles collided.

It appears the 11-year-old was the only person with reported injuries, which were said to be incapacitating. The driver of the pickup is accused of having had alcohol prior to the crash. Details show there were recommendations for charges of intoxication assault and turning when unsafe. The status of these potential charges is unclear at this time.
