Esteban Garcia Nuñez Killed, One Injured in Car Accident on Tower Road in Hidalgo County, TX

Hidalgo County, TX — August 26, 2023, Esteban Garcia Nuñez was killed, and one other was injured in a single-vehicle accident around 8:59 p.m. on Tower Road in Hidalgo County.

Sources report the victims were in a Nissan Sentra heading northbound on Tower Road, north of the intersection with E. Curve Road when the vehicle purportedly drove onto an “excavated” portion of the road. Pictures of the crash show the vehicle sitting on a rough, dirt-like surface with traffic barrels and piles of dirt in the background.

Additionally, photos of the disabled Nissan Sentra show that it suffered damage to its front driver-side wheel and its front bumper. It is unclear why the vehicle experienced a defect, such as a tire blowout, and that is what forced it onto the excavated part of the construction zone, or some other factors played a part in this crash.

The two victims were reportedly taken to a Hospital, and Mr. Garcia Nuñez's injuries were ultimately fatal. The other victim has reportedly since been released from the hospital.

There are no further updates at this time.
