Ricky Lee Tate Killed in Car Accident in Abilene, TX

Abilene, TX — August 26, 2023, Ricky Lee Tate was fatally injured due to a single-vehicle car accident Saturday morning along Highway 277.

According to initial statements from Abilene Police officials, the incident happened at approximately 1:00 a.m. along the 5400 block of U.S. 277.

Investigators say in their preliminary reports that 35-year-old Ricky Lee Tate was in a pickup going along the highway. The vehicle somehow lost control, causing it to go off-road and crashed into a guardrail, then a post.

As a result of this crash, Tate ultimately succumbed to fatal injuries. It appears officials pronounced Tate deceased at the scene. Right now, additional details about the accident remain unconfirmed as investigations are ongoing.
