One Killed, Jacob Jumper, Donell Red Bear, Rikki Voice, Child Injured in Car Accident in Jackson County, SD

El Paso, TX — August 21, 2023, a child was killed, and Jacob Jumper, Donell Red Bear, Rikki Voice, and a child were injured in a car accident on Interstate 90 near mile marker 140 in Jackson County, SD.

Authorities indicate that on August 21, a fatal accident occurred when a Toyota and a Chevrolet SUV collided on Interstate 90. According to reports, the crash happened in the afternoon in Jackson County. Investigators say the Toyota rear-ended the SUV, which caused it to flip over in the median and land in a roadside ditch.

Officials confirmed an 11-year-old passenger in the SUV was killed in the accident. The Toyota driver, 22-year-old Jacob Jumper, reportedly suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The SUV driver, Donell Red Bear, was severely injured, but sources say the injuries were not life-threatening. Two other SUV occupants, Rikki Voice and a 7-year-old child, had severe injuries and were transported to a hospital for medical attention.

Authorities have not determined the cause of the accident and are still investigating.
