Woman Killed, 4 Injured in Possible Hit-and-run Accident on North Lamar in Austin, TX

Austin, TX — August 27, 2023, a woman was killed and four were injured following a car accident at around 4:00 a.m. along North Lamar Boulevard.

According to information released by the Austin Police Department, the crash took place in the area of the North Lamar Boulevard and Rutland Drive intersection.

Investigators said that the incident involved at least two vehicles colliding head-on, and a third vehicle was apparently involved, as well. Authorities allege that third driver left the scene, but authorities apparently arrested that driver.

Due to the collision, one woman involved sustained fatal injuries. Reports at this time only identify her as a woman in her 50s. Details suggest four others were injured, but one reportedly refused transport from the scene. The other three were taken to area hospitals, two with possibly life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not specified what charges may be pending for the driver they arrested. There are no further details to confirm at this time.
