Pennie Jarret-Gehlhausen Killed, Catherin Brigid Strain Injured in Car Accident in Lavaca County, TX

Lavaca County, TX — August 25, 2023, Pennie Jarret-Gehlhausen was killed and Catherin Strain was injured after a car accident at 9:30 p.m. along U.S. 77.

Authorities said that the incident took place at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and F.M. 531 several miles south of Hallettsville.

According to officials, 61-year-old Pennie Jarret-Gehlhausen was in a Honda Pilot said to be going westbound along F.M. 531. At the U.S. 77 intersection, the Honda somehow crossed paths and collided with a Toyota Avalon going northbound.

Due to the collision, Jarret-Gehlhausen sustained fatal injuries. The other driver, 21-year-old Catherin Brigid Strain, was reportedly taken to a hospital in stable condition. There were no other reported injuries. At this time, the cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.
